Police Use Pepper Spray to Subdue 8-Year-Old at School
A second grader's violent outburst led to the 8-year-old boy being pepper sprayed by police -- twice -- at his school.
"Today" reports Aidan Elliot threatened two teachers, throwing chairs and yelling, "If you come out, you're gonna die." The teachers locked themselves in an office and called police.
"He was violent, he was verbal, he was abusive," Peg Kastberg, superintendent of Jefferson County Schools, tells "Today."
The boy reportedly threw a TV cart and pulled wood trim from the walls, the news show reports.
"I wanted to make something sharp, for, like, if they came out -- 'cause I was so mad at them," Aiden tells "Today." "I was gonna try to whack them with it."
Aidan's mom, Mandy Elliot, tells "Today" no other students were in the classroom at the time of the incident, and calls the use of pepper spray "excessive."
"The school he was at was for children who have social and emotional behavioral issues ... They know what the kids are capable of before they took him on. They could have also called and asked for a special unit who deals with children from the police department in these crisis situations," Elliot tells "Today."
This was his third incident involving police at school, "Today" reports. No charges were filed.
"I kind of deserved it," Aidan tells "Today."
Eliott tells the news show her son's violent behavior occurs only at school, but that Aidan has not been diagnosed with any disorder. She says she would like to see police training, for officers dealing with similar situations.
"I don't think it's right for an 8-year-old to get pepper-sprayed," she tells "Today."

Twins Now On the Way for Couple Involved in Embryo Mix-Up
After a clerical mix-up in a fertility clinic in 2009, Carolyn and Sean Savage were informed they were carrying another couple's child.
The wrong embryo had been implanted, "Today" reports, but the Sylvania Township, Ohio, couple opted to continue the pregnancy, anyway.
"We knew that we had somebody's very, very wanted child," Caroline Savage tells the news show. "I just couldn't see doing -- taking that away from another mother. There's just no way."
Carolyn Savage delivered a baby boy, Logan, who has given to his biological parents.
The Savages gave birth to a boy, Drew, in 1994, with no complications. But then fertility issues began to arise. In 1997, Ryan was born prematurely, and, after 10 years and four miscarriages, the family welcomed Mary Kate in 2008, using IVF.
"That IVF produced extra embryos we had frozen for later pregnancy attempts which led us to a frozen embryo transfer in February 2009 and the call from the doctor alerting us of the medical error," the couple writes on a site for its book, "Inconceivable: A Medical Mistake, the Baby We Couldn't Keep, and Our Choice to Deliver the Ultimate Gift."
The Savages tell "Today" they wanted to use the remaining embryos, via surrogate Jennifer Onash. She miscarried an earlier pregnancy, but is now expecting twins for the couple, due in August.
"Now that Jennifer is expecting twins for our family, we are overwhelmed with gratitude," Carolyn Savage writes on the "Today" website. "Obviously, we are grateful to be expecting two more children with Jennifer's help. But, more importantly, we are grateful for the lessons Jennifer taught us about generosity, kindness and love. That will always be her greatest gift to us."

Michael Manning, TV Priest, Takes Leave Of Absence After Affair With Cousin
A Catholic TV priest has taken a leave of absence after admitting to a sexual affair with his second cousin.
According to the San Bernadino Sun, which first reported the relationship, Michael Manning, 70, will be leaving Wordnet, the worldwide television ministry he founded in San Bernadino in 1978, to reflect on his relationship with Monterey Schools Superintendent Nancy Kotowski.
Manning, who claims to no longer have a sexual relationship with his cousin, said he has sought and received forgiveness from God. "That's the neat thing with Jesus. There can be the chance of starting again," Manning said in an interview with the Sun.
He admitted to the affair after the Sun obtained a series of correspondence between the lovers.
"The reality is I was living two lives: one as a priest who was vowed to celibacy and another life as a sexually active man in our sexual intimacy," Manning wrote in one letter. The pair allegedly ended their physical relationship more than two years ago.
Meanwhile, Kotowski told the Monterey Herald that she believes she and the priest are "soul mates" and she hopes their story will inspire discussion about the role of celibacy within the Catholic church. "The reality is that we love the church, we're committed to the church, but I'm hoping a dialogue will open up (about) obligatory celibacy, the whole question of celibacy," she said.
Manning also hosts a weekly television show, "A Word in the World," on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. While network spokesman John Casoria would not confirm whether Manning's show would be suspended, he told the Sun that "we're obviously surprised, and we pray for Manning in this situation."
