Katherine Heigl Returns to TV in HBO's 'Knitting Circle' by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 8th 2011 2:20PM Filed under: Reality-FreeTV News

Katherine Heigl is making her return to TV, but not with a new series.
The former 'Grey's Anatomy' actress will produce and star in an HBO movie.
According to Deadline, Heigl and her mother will produce an adaptation of Ann Hood's 'The Knitting Circle.' The project is being written by 'Dirty Sexy Money' creator Craig Wright.
Heigl will play the main character, a mother mourning the loss of her child. She turns to a knitting circle to help overcome the grief that has taken over her life.
This is Heigl's first TV role since leaving ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' in 2010.
Controversy followed Heigl and the medical drama for years after she famously slammed the show's writers during the 2008–2009 season and removed herself from the Emmy race. Heigl returned to the show only to then leave for good; her last appearance was in January 2010.
Heigl has a few other projects in the works: 'New Year's Eve,' which hits theaters in December, and 'One for the Money,' which opens in January 2012.

Powerful Tornado Rips Through Small Iowa Town
MAPLETON, Iowa -- Jamy Garden's house began to rumble with the approach of a tornado that at one point measured three-quarters of a mile wide. Then the windows shattered, spraying her with glass. Using her cellphone as a flashlight, she fled to her basement and called her grandparents in tears.
On Sunday, she returned home, wandering her backyard in a blood-splattered hooded sweat shirt, her right hand and left knee wrapped in gauze. Around her lay a tangle of tree branches, twisted siding, broken glass and a canoe that wasn't hers.
The tornado that struck the evening before damaged more than half of Mapleton, a town of 1,200 in western Iowa, Mayor Fred Standa said Sunday. He estimated about 20 percent of the town was "almost flat."
The huge, centuries-old trees the town was named for had been pulled out of the ground and wrapped around houses and tossed on top of cars, Standa said. In one case, a huge motor home had been flipped on its side.
"It's not a pretty sight," Standa said. "It's something nobody has seen in this town." Garden's house survived, but everything inside was tossed around. Her two dogs were safe, but she hadn't yet found her cat.
"I don't know where our gazebo went," she said. "The garbage can right there, that was in the front yard. The shed is gone. I don't know what else to tell you. This is the most tumultuous thing I've ever experienced by far."
The tornado destroyed 12 to 15 blocks in the southwest corner of Mapleton when it struck about 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Monona County Sheriff Jeff Pratt said. About a hundred homes were destroyed and 500-600 residents displaced, he said.
The tornado was on the ground for three and a half miles and measured three-quarters of a mile wide at one point, according to the National Weather Service office in Valley, Neb. The twister was measured to be on the lower end of an EF3, which carries wind speeds of 136 to 165 mph.
The tornado was one of several reported in Iowa. The weather service said it was assessing damage in Sac, Pocahontas and Kossuth counties Sunday after unconfirmed reports of tornadoes there as well.
In Mapleton, the roof was blown off a high school, power lines were downed and homes and buildings were destroyed. Pratt said two people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries. The weather service said it had gotten reports of 14 to 16 injuries, the most severe a broken leg.
Utilities also were damaged, and gas fumes filled the town, prompting officials to shut off service. Pratt said gas service will remain off for the next two weeks, but electricity should be restored in the next day or so.
The smell of natural gas hung thick in the air Sunday as forklifts and pick-up trucks hauled debris down streets lined with fallen trees.
Tamara Adams, 37, piled branches on the curb, next to the 30-foot-tall tree that rested on top of her house. She said she closed her outside basement door just as the tornado tore the roof off a store that sits diagonal from her house.
"That sound," she said. "I'll never get it out of my head. It had a life. You could hear it breathing and growling."
Terry Siebersma, who runs a downtown liquor store with his wife, was manning his shop when he heard the tornado sirens and saw the sky turn green. In the distance, he saw the twister swirl into view.
Sponsored Links"It was almost like the movies," he said. "It was loud really loud."
Siebersma, 53, said he rushed to the basement. Upstairs, he heard bottles breaking. He emerged several minutes later, and the store looked fine. He said he walked to a back storage room and discovered the roof missing and one wall on the verge of collapse.
"We were very, very lucky," he said. "I almost feel guilty."
Gov. Terry Branstad issued an emergency proclamation covering Mapleton and surrounding Monana County on Saturday so the state could spend money to respond to the storm, his office said. He toured Mapleton on Sunday afternoon.
Branstad said it was too early to know whether the tornado qualified for federal aid.
"Whatever state resources are needed, we're going to provide," he said.
Monana County is in the same region of western Iowa where four Boy Scouts died in a tornado that struck a scouting ranch in June 2008. The National Weather Service said the tornado that hit the 1,800-acre Little Sioux Scout Ranch in the Loess Hills had an estimated wind speed of 145 mph.
Associated Press writer Timberly Ross in Omaha, Neb., contributed to this report.

5 Exercises Men Can Do for Better Sex
Move over, Viagra: Regular exercise could be the best medicine for a man to improve his sex life.
By Jan SheehanMedically reviewed by Pat F. Bass III, MD, MPH
You know that working out is good for your health. But did you know that hitting the gym could also help you have better sex? “Working out three to four times a week can do a lot to help your sexual technique, flexibility, and endurance,” says Pete McCall, MS, an exercise physiologist and personal trainer for the American Council on Exercise (ACE). So what types of exercise are best for better sex? McCall recommends the following five “sex exercises.”
Better Sex Exercise No. 1: Weight Lifting
Strength training could be just what the doctor ordered for your sex life. The reason: “Weight lifting causes the body to produce testosterone, which is the primary precursor for the male sex drive,” says McCall, who recommends lifting enough to feel fatigue by the 10th repetition. In fact, some studies have linked short intense exercise, such as weight lifting, with increased testosterone levels. To improve your sex life, do some push-ups, sit-ups, and crunches. These muscle-building exercises can help lead to better sex by strengthening the shoulders, chest, and abs. Strong upper body strength can increase stamina since these muscles are used during intercourse.
Better Sex Exercise No. 2: Kegels
Doing Kegels is considered a good sex exercise for men because these exercises can help endurance and control by toning the pubococcygeus (PC) muscles — the ones that let you stop the flow of urine mid-stream. Named after Los Angeles physician Arnold Kegel, they strengthen the muscles in your body’s pelvic floor, which can lead to better sex. “Men can use Kegels to delay ejaculation by contracting these muscles just before orgasm,” says McCall. To do Kegels, start by interrupting the flow of urine when going to the bathroom to get familiar with your PC muscles. After that, you can do Kegels anytime and any place by squeezing the PC muscles. Hold for 10 seconds, relax, and do as many reps as you can before tiring.
Better Sex Exercise No. 3: Yoga
Want to shake up your sex life with some new positions? Practicing yoga will give you better sex by allowing your body to get into creative positions for maximum pleasure during intercourse. “Yoga will help your flexibility,” says McCall. The result can be better sex. McCall recommends yoga poses that improve pelvic muscles, such as the Bow Pose, Peacock Pose (also called the Forearm or Elbow Balance), and Shoulder Stand.
Better Sex Exercise No. 4: Fast Walking
In a study of 31,000 men over age 50, Harvard researchers found that aerobic exercise resulted in a 30-percent lower risk of erectile dysfunction (ED). More specifically, according to another study, aerobic activity that burns at least 200 calories per day (equal to fast walking for two miles) can significantly lower the risk of ED. Brisk walking is thought to help ED by improving circulation and blood flow. “Fast walking, running, and other aerobic activities help your sex life for the same reason that they prevent heart attacks,” says McCall. “They keep your blood vessels clear.” The result can be stronger and longer erections. Vigorous activities, such as running and brisk walking, also release endorphins and relax you, which can boost sexual performance.
Secrets of the Female Orgasm
Better Sex Exercise No. 5: Swimming
In another Harvard study of 160 male and female swimmers, swimmers in their 60s reported sex lives comparable to those in their 40s. Since sexual activity can be an act of endurance, long-distance swimming can keep you going and going like the Energizer bunny. “Swimming for at least 30 minutes three times a week will increase sexual endurance,” says McCall. Swimming is also a great activity for weight loss, which can also lead to better sex. A randomized, single-blind study of 110 obese men with ED found that losing just 10 percent of their body weight improved sexual function in one third of the men. And it’s no secret that losing excess body fat will help attain those six-pack abs and make you more attractive to potential partners. The result: better sex!
Try doing some (or all) of the above workouts to improve your sexual technique, endurance, and flexibility. Your mate will be impressed with your sexual powers and, as a side benefit, you’ll get healthier and fitter along the way.

Lady Gaga Takes a Tumble During Concert
By Kelly Fisher Posted Apr 12th 2011 08:45AM
Lady Gaga took a tumble Sunday night in the middle of her concert in Houston, Texas , but that didn't stop her from wowing the crowd.
The 'Born This Way' singer was standing on her piano bench, with one leg on her piano, when she lost her balance and fell in the middle of singing her new tune 'You and I.'
But in true Gaga fashion, she didn't miss a beat, and popped back up to continue the song, injury-free.
